What is the DDC?

The District Development Centers were established to provide a facility to help players improve performance and create consistency in training throughout BC. It is also a venue for coaches to pass on experience, teachings to players and provide mentorship for other coaches.
Throughout the season, the DDC will offer all players opportunities to attend clinics. These clinics will range from our “Keeners” program offered to our Pony and House players; to our high performance camps for our house, rep and elite players.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate in these clinics no matter what your level. As well, coaches are encouraged to come out and run clinics with mentor coaches so they can also learn and develop skills to improve their coaching abilities.

If you are interested in attending any of the clinics please complete the forms and drop off at the soccer office at the Lions Pavilion at Beban Park.
Coaches, if you are interested in attending a session or would like to become part of our technical staff, please send an email to our Technical Director.
Thank you for your interest in our technical department. We are committed to providing players, and coaches’ tools, skills and resources to improve every players performance at all levels of play.

Regards,

Shawn Fiddick

Fall/Winter 2015 Keener's Soccer Program

The keeners is a program run by the Nanaimo Youth Soccer Club. It is a 16-week program divided into two seasons. The program is approved by the club and runs under the guidance of the Technical Director. The program is run on a day to day basis by senior coaches of the club.

Objective

The objective is to provide a program where by registered players and coaches have an opportunity to take part in practices over and above those offered by the house league teams. The program is not open to rep A or B players as the expectation they will be in the high performance program. Coaching will be at the level required for the age group and development of the players.

Coaches

House league coaches are encouraged to participate in the program. Assistance will be provided that will allow house league coaches the opportunity to assist in the running of the drills, and will be encouraged to prepare and run a session with the assistance from more senior coaches. The training of coaches is crucial to the long-term development of players.

Age groups

The program is divided into two groups: -
6 to 9 years old 9am to 10am
10-14 years old.10am to 11.15am

Seasons

Season one runs from September 25th 2015 to December 11h 2015. (12 weeks)
Season two runs from January 29th 2016 to March 5th 2016. (6 weeks).
All practices are at Departure Bay Fields.

Program

Skills taught include dribbling, passing, shooting, basics of goalkeeping, basic movement off the ball.
At all times the focus will be on skill development ensuring the players in the age group are sufficiently challenged.
The skills taught will be for individual development and although they may incorporate themselves into the team aspect of the game it is assumed the house league coach of the players will be working to ensuring the team play is developed at their regular practices..

Registration Forms are available at the Soccer Office or by downloading the form here:
